research sought to answer the following questions:
1. What does the term "Democracy" Mean?
2. To whom does sovereignty belong in a democratic System?
To the People or to Natural Law?
3. Can the will of the majority legitimize immoral law voted
by the majority through referendum?
4. Is the duty to respect Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms
legitimate limitations to the exercise of right to democracy
through referendum and parliamentary legislation?
5. Is there a right to democracy under current International
Law?
6 Is the use of force to restore democracy legal under current

The major work of the Author on the theme of Human Stem Cell Research
and "Therapeutic Cloning" is forthcoming. It is being
written in English Language. This Italian publication is a summary
of the forthcoming English text.
One of the reasons for publishing this Italian text is to inform
the Italian public on the ethical issues concerning the Human
Stem Cell Research and " Therapeutic Cloning" in order
to enable them to follow and contribute to the ongoing debate
on the ethical issues involved in Human Stem Cell Research and
"therapeutic Cloning."
The author is sincerely grateful to all those who helped to produce
this Italian version.

research seeks to answer the following questions:
1. Is it ethically right to use human embryos for the derivation
of human stem cells for transplantation into patients?
2. Can the use of "surplus human embryos" be ethically
justified on the grounds of the ethical principle of beneficence?
3. What is the biological, philosophical, moral and legal Status
of the Human Embryo?
4. Is the human embryo a human person?
5. Is embryonic stem cell research a violation of dignity of the
human embryo?
6. Is the distinction between human being and human person ethically
acceptable?
7. Is the distinction between derivation and use of embryonic
stem cells ethically valid?
8. Can the Use of "therapeutic Cloning" in human Stem
Cell Research and therapy be ethically justified?
9. Is the distinction between "reproductive Cloning"
and "Therapeutic Cloning" valid?
10. Since there are other alternative sources to the use of Human
embryos namely, adult stem cells, umbilical cord blood, is it
ethically right to use Human embryos for Stem Cell research and
therapy?
11.Should there be a Universal Convention to prohibit the use
of human embryos and human fetuses for Stem Cell Research?
12. Should such Convention ban both "reproductive Cloning"
and "Therapeutic Cloning." ?
