EUTHANASIA AND PHYSICIAN -ASSISTED SUICIDE

RESEARCH WORK IN PROGRESS


The research seeks to answer the following questions:

1.Euthanasia is a violation of law of God since it is a deliberate killing of a human person. Thus, Pope John Paul II rightly stated: "…I confirm that euthanasia is a grave violation of the law of God, since it is the deliberate and morally unacceptable killing of a human person. This doctrine is based upon the natural law and upon the written word of God, it is transmitted by the Church's Tradition and taught by the ordinary and universal Magisterium.
Depending on the circumstances, this practice involves the malice proper to suicide or murder. "Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae, no. 65. Can euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide ever be justified on the grounds of respect for human dignity understood as freedom or autonomy?
2.Is there any difference between euthanasia, Physician-assisted Suicide and right to reject aggressive therapy?
3. Is palliative medicine an alternative to Euthanasia and Physician-assisted Suicide?
4. Is Suspension of administration of Food and Water tantamount to euthanasia?
5. Are advanced directives ethically valid?
6. Is hospice an alternative to euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide?
